SPIRITDRUM is the creation of DFOA's Dave Curry and is hosted every month by The Enchanted Fox. Many community drum circles can be filled with high energy and high volume, but this circle provides an alternative experience that focuses on the intimate connections that are formed when people listen intently to the subtlties of each other's personal expressions through the ancient medium of the drum. Dave C begins and ends each gathering with simple, Earth-honoring rituals, but the remainder of the circle is a spontaneous exploration of rhythm as a form of spiritual communication. Together we weave the pulse of our drums and sometimes the sound of our voices to draw ourselves deeper into a state of introspection, meditation and wonder. And if someone happens to add in a wooden flute, or a didgeridoo, there's no telling what kind of journey we'll embark on!
- The circle is in the loft, so enter by the stairs on the side of the building.
- You're encouraged to bring your own hand drum, rattle, or other percussion instruments.
- Some extra drums are available for borrowing.
- Please arrive before 7pm so you can have time to settle in before the ceremony begins.
- As a heads-up, we burn incense briefly at the beginning of the ceremony.
- Parents please use discretion about bringing younger children so as to minimize disruptions.
