DRUMS FOR ONE & ALL
Hand Drumming Lessons & Tutorials
If you want to learn the basics of hand drumming, DFOA's Dave C. teaches private lessons out of his home in Upton MA. The cost is $20 per hour. Topics can include playing technique for African drums, Middle Eastern drums, Latin (Afro-Cuban) drums, and hand percussion instruments. You can learn basic African or Middle Eastern rhythms that are commonly played at drum circles. You can also learn methods for improving your sense of time, improvisational skills and the ability to understand written rhythms. Lessons are tailored to the particular interests of each student.
If you prefer to learn in a group setting, Dave C. also teaches hand drumming classes through "Assabet After Dark", an adult continuing education program that is offered by the Assabet school in Marlborough, MA. Class schedules and descriptions can be found on the Assabet website.
